What is Liquid Gold?

Liquid Gold is a new approach to anti-aging treatment which allows our specialist to prepare a Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix to use as a dermal filler and facial restructuring technique. A small amount of blood is collected from the patient during an office visit. Through a patent process, our specialist is able to divide the components of the blood to use only the platelets and fibrin to form a thickened concentrate to be used in facial restructuring.

Why Platelet Enriched Plasma?

Platelets are not new to the medical field for healing. Platelets are known to release many growth factors involved in wound healing. Aging is a wound to the skin, the loss of collagen is due to injury from environmental exposures and slows cell production- the natural effect of “maturing”.

What Makes Liquid Gold Effective?

Liquid Gold is a natural autologous preparation which the body readily accepts. When injected just under the skin, it activates new skin cell growth and, over time, leads to a stronger collagen support structure. Liquid Gold discharges a protein which prompts new cells to grow and spread throughout the treatment area.

What Area of the Body can be Treated with Liquid Gold?

Liquid Gold can be used to give a fuller appearance to skin imperfections, acne and chicken pock marks, and hollow cheeks. It can diminish the scars left by acne and greatly improve the lines around the mouth and nose which develop with time. Liquid Gold may be used on any area of the body which needs to be plumped or to create areas with more definition.
Hands, neck, chest, cheeks, and entire faces benefit from this treatment.

What are the Benefits to Liquid Gold vs. Other Treatments?

The fact that Liquid Gold is created from the patient’s own body is the biggest advantage this system offers. This means allergic reactions are rare and almost never occur. The appointment from start to finish takes about 1 hour or less and is rarely uncomfortable. Liquid Gold stays fluid under the skin so there is no need to be concerned about unsightly knots or clumping. The entire process takes place in our office and requires no general anesthesia. Because Liquid Gold does not burn or blister the face, infection is unlikely.

Who can be Treated with Liquid Gold?

Patients of all ethnicities are candidates for Liquid Gold treatment. We will not treat anyone already dealing with blood clotting issues or those who are presently on blood thinning medications. Patients already treating infection should be cleared of infection prior to treatment.

What can I Expect at My Liquid Gold Appointment?

First, a small appropriate amount of blood will be drawn from the patient’s vein. After using the patient’s blood to prepare the filler, the specialist will inject Liquid Gold into the treatment area. It is placed just under the skin with very small needles for the purpose of patient comfort.

Is There a Recovery Period After Liquid Gold?

Recovery after the Liquid Gold treatment is relatively easy. Pain medication is not required, and the patient could experience mild swelling and little bruising for a day or two. Few may experience minor itching, but this is only a mild irritation.

What Will I See After the Liquid Gold Treatment?

After two to three weeks, the treated area will look smoother as new cells fill in under the epidermis. The improvement seen will continue for several weeks until signs of aging are greatly diminished.

Does Liquid Gold Have Any Associated Risks?

Because NORTHERN COLORADO LASER AND SKIN follows a strict, special protocol when working with blood products, the risk of infection is slight. Liquid Gold is safer than most other dermal fillers being used today and problems are rare.

Is the Liquid Gold System Approved for Use in the United States?

The FDA approved this product for use by trained providers in the United States, and it has also been certified as safe in Europe.
